WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has promoted three senior executives at its retail pharmacy subsidiary, all of whom now have expanded roles.
The company said Monday that Judith Strauss Sansone has been named senior vice president of merchandising for CVS/pharmacy.
Meanwhile, CVS/pharmacy chief marketing officer Robert Price has added retail innovation and store design responsibilities to his role, and Scott Baker, executive vice president for internal operations, real estate and supply chain, has added inventory management and logistics to his duties.
"These appointments tap the deep bench strength and diverse talents of our CVS/pharmacy team," Mark Cosby, president of CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "Through the focus of these leaders and their teams, we’re in the unique position to improve the lives of millions of Americans by providing easy, innovative solutions and personalized pharmacy health care at their neighborhood drug store, CVS/pharmacy."
A 30-year CVS veteran and seasoned merchant, Sansone most recently was vice president merchandising and pricing, responsible for general merchandise, consumables and front-end pricing. At CVS/pharmacy, she has served in several roles, including vice president of health care merchandising and vice president of retail innovation and store design.
CVS noted that Sansone also was part of the core team involved in the integration of the former Eckerd, Osco, Sav-on and Longs Drug Stores chains, which were acquired by CVS/pharmacy.
With his extra duties in retail innovation and store design, Price will more tightly integrate the store and digital environments to create a more personalized experience for shoppers and patients, according to CVS, which cited his 20-plus year of experience in retail, strategy and marketing. The company said the insights gleaned from CVS/pharmacy’s ExtraCare customer loyalty program will be at the center of that effort.
Baker, in his expanded role, will provide senior-level support for inventory management and product flow in tandem with the merchandising and pharmacy teams, CVS said. He also oversees real estate, construction and facilities, and front-store operations.
Last January, Baker and Mike Bloom, executive vice president of merchandising and supply chain, were named interim leaders of CVS/pharmacy as CVS Caremark searched for a new retail pharmacy president to fill the vacancy created by Larry Merlo, who was promoted to CVS Caremark president and chief operating officer last year and then assumed the chief executive officer post in March.
CVS Caremark in August named Cosby, former president of stores at Macy’s, as president of CVS/pharmacy. He started in that post on Oct. 1.
Bloom left CVS late last month to become president and COO of deep discount retailer Family Dollar Stores after a 20-year career at the drug chain.
