CVS rebranding Rite Aid, Bartell stores in Pacific Northwest

"We’ve decided to convert the 64 stores we are planning to buy and operate, including 20 Rite Aid locations that are still branded Bartell Drugs, to CVS Pharmacy upon the closing of the transactions."

SEATTLE — CVS is now rebranding the Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs locations it intends to acquire in Washington.

"We continue to move through the closings for the Rite Aid assets we are planning to acquire in the Pacific Northwest and are evaluating what’s needed to best serve Rite Aid customers and patients who will be transitioning to CVS Pharmacy as their community pharmacy in the weeks and months ahead," said Amy Thibault, executive director, Corporate Communications – External Affairs at CVS Health.

"As a result, we’ve decided to convert the 64 stores we are planning to buy and operate, including 20 Rite Aid locations that are still branded Bartell Drugs, to CVS Pharmacy upon the closing of the transactions. We know Bartell Drugs has been a much-loved brand in Washington and we’re planning to continue to offer many of the local products their customers have grown to know and love. In addition, we’ll be enhancing the overall product selection and availability in these locations and adding team members to help ensure an excellent in-store shopping experience. Current employees who would like to join the CVS Pharmacy team will also be considered for roles," she added.

"While we already have 70 CVS Pharmacy locations in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, we’re excited to continue to grow our presence in the region and to introduce Rite Aid customers to CVS Pharmacy’s best-in-class front store products and trusted pharmacy services while ensuring a seamless transition for patients and customers without interruption," Thibault concluded.

The first location — the Bartell Drugs in Newcastle — closed July 9 as a Bartell and reopened the next morning as a CVS, with a new pharmacy operation and a temporary banner over the door.
