WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy is bringing back a popular loyalty card promotion as it marks a company milestone.
The drug chain said Friday that members of its ExtraCare program can sign up to double their Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards earnings when they shop at any of its more than 7,500 stores from Sept. 16 through Dec. 15. ExtraBucks can be spent like money on most items in the store.
Shoppers can double their Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards earnings by signing up online at CVS.com/doublebucks or by printing a sign-up slip at the ExtraCare Coupon Center at their local store.
ExtraCare members always earn 2% back on most dollars spent on purchases (excluding prescriptions) as Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards, which are paid out on Jan. 1, April 1, July 1 and Oct. 1. Members enrolling for Double Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards will see that all eligible purchases will be doubled, enabling them to earn twice the rewards Sept. 16 through Dec. 15. Participants will be able to track their double spending amount on their receipts. All Double Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards will print on customer receipts starting Jan. 1, 2014, to Feb. 15, 2014.
And as CVS/pharmacy commemorates its 50th anniversary, the retailer is offering customers a range of special deals and savings online and in stores during September.
Shoppers can find extra savings and rewards in the weekly circular, at the ExtraCare Coupon Center in stores and in their e-mail inboxes, CVS said.

To that end, Double Quarterly ExtraBucks Rewards is back by popular demand," Rob Price, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement. "Simultaneously, we’re celebrating our 50th anniversary by offering tremendous savings to shoppers in September. It’s a great way to thank our loyal customers by providing them with even more value during each shopping trip."
ExtraCare, the nation’s largest retail rewards program, has more than 70 million active cardholders.
