MEDINA, Ohio — Discount Drug Mart is teaming up with the American Red Cross to help raise money for people who have suffered from Hurricane Helene.
Helene ravaged six states leaving hundreds dead and many missing. Discount Drug Mart is offering customers the opportunity to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or to make a specific donation when checking out. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Helene relief effort.
“When you see the devastation, you can’t help but want to assist the thousands who are trying to dig out and find some sense of normalcy after losing, in many cases, everything,” said Don Boodjeh, the chain's chief executive officer. “At Discount Drug Mart, we are all about community, whether it’s here in Ohio or across state lines. We want to help.”
Discount Drug Mart’s 79 stores across Ohio are participating in the round up and donation campaign which will run through October 20. Customers can donate the change they would normally get back by rounding up to the nearest dollar. Customers can also make a specific donation.
“Support from the community and partners like Discount Drug Mart allow the Red Cross to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disaster. We are thankful for the partnership that lets us do lifesaving work, said Rachel Stine, executive director of the American Red Cross of Greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley.
