MEDINA, Ohio — Discount Drug Mart saw its third straight year of improvement in 2014, as sales climbed 6.5% to some $621 million.
Thriving pharmacies are the backbone of the 72-store Ohio drug chain’s business. In the front end, the monthly senior savings day is a big draw, as are offerings ranging from video rentals to deli food to a broad array of beauty products.
The chain has also become a full-service home health care provider, offering oxygen, vents and hospital beds.
Discount Drug Mart also continues to add stores. It debuted a unit in Montville, Ohio, in October that chief financial officer Tom McConnell said is already doing exceptionally well. The chain aims to add at least one store this year, in Sharon Township in Summit County, and possibly a second store.
