Dollar General marks nearly two decades of Habitat for Humanity partnership

Dollar General celebrated 19 years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville as more than 80 employees volunteered 550 hours helping build homes for families in South Nashville.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General is celebrating 19 consecutive years of partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville, underscoring its commitment to affordable housing and community development throughout Middle Tennessee.

In June, more than 80 Dollar General employees volunteered about 550 hours to help build homes for families in south Nashville as part of the retailer’s long-running collaboration with the nonprofit.

“Habitat for Humanity’s work reflects the heart of our mission of Serving Others, and we are proud to be a longstanding partner of their efforts to support hardworking homeowners,” said Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “For nearly 20 years, our combined efforts have supported families on their path to stability and success.”

In addition to volunteering at construction sites, Dollar General provided housewarming gift packages filled with DG products to help new homeowners settle in.

Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville has helped more than 1.37 million homeowners, including 2,300 children, across Middle Tennessee. The organization serves families throughout Davidson, Wilson, Cheatham, Dickson and Robertson counties by building quality, affordable housing.

The latest volunteer initiative highlights Dollar General’s continued focus on community engagement and its broader mission to support the communities it serves through employee volunteerism and charitable partnerships.
