CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Dollar Tree Inc. has made a series of significant executive promotions aimed at bolstering its leadership team and positioning the company for continued growth in the highly competitive retail landscape. The company announced that Steve Schumacher has been promoted to executive vice president and chief people officer, while Jocelyn “Jocy” Konrad and Jason Nordin have been appointed to critical leadership roles in the Dollar Tree and Family Dollar banners.
Steve Schumacher, who has served as interim chief people officer for the past six months, has been officially promoted to executive vice president and chief people officer. A veteran with nearly 20 years of human resources experience, Schumacher will continue to lead the HR functions for Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, overseeing corporate HR, supply chain, compliance, labor relations, and people solutions.
“Steve has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace where our associates feel valued and empowered,” said Mike Creedon, Interim CEO of Dollar Tree, Inc. “His deep expertise and ability to align our people strategy with the evolving needs of our business have been instrumental in driving us forward. I am confident that Steve’s people-first approach will continue to strengthen our organization.”
Schumacher joined Dollar Tree in 2018 and has held several leadership roles within the company. Before that, he was the North American vice president of Human Resources at National Express and held senior HR positions at Sears Holdings and Marriott International. Schumacher holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, along with a Chief Human Resources Officer certification from the Wharton Aresty Institute of Executive Education.
Dollar Tree also named Jocelyn “Jocy” Konrad as chief of Dollar Tree Stores and Enterprise Store Operations. In this new role, Konrad will oversee all Dollar Tree stores and enterprise operations and leverage her extensive experience to guide the company’s multi-price expansion strategy. She joined Dollar Tree in September 2023 and Creedon says she has already made significant contributions, particularly in strengthening Family Dollar's brand and operational performance.
“Jocy has unlocked substantial value for the Family Dollar business, delivering on financial commitments and exceeding operational expectations,” Creedon says. “Her dynamic, results-focused leadership will now extend to Dollar Tree as we continue to expand our footprint and enhance customer experiences.”
Before joining Dollar Tree, Konrad was executive vice president and chief pharmacy officer at Rite Aid, where she played a key role in the company’s pharmacy operations. She has more than 30 years of retail and pharmacy experience, with a background that includes senior roles at Eckerd Pharmacy and Thrift Drug.
Meanwhile, Jason Nordin has been named president of Family Dollar Stores, where he will play a pivotal role in the company’s ongoing review of strategic alternatives for the banner. Nordin, who also joined Dollar Tree in September 2023, has been recognized for operational acumen and his commitment to people development.
“Jason’s leadership in the Dollar Tree banner has already driven meaningful improvements in our store operations,” added Creedon. “His business agility and financial expertise will be critical as we explore new strategies for the Family Dollar brand.”
Before his current role, Nordin was the chief operating officer of Pilot Company, where he managed over 23,000 team members across North America. His career includes leadership roles at Whirlpool, Tyco International, and Abbott Laboratories. Nordin holds degrees in mechanical engineering and operations management from Northwestern University and an MBA in strategy and finance from the Kellogg School of Management.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Steve, Jocy, and Jason in these critical roles,” Creedon concluded. “Their combined experience and leadership will guide us as we continue to evolve and optimize our operations.”
