PLANO, Texas — Next month, Dr Pepper Snapple Group plans to roll out 10-calorie versions of five of its most popular soda brands.

The beverage company said Thursday that 7UP TEN, A&W TEN root beer, Sunkist TEN orange soda, Canada Dry TEN ginger ale and RC TEN Cola will be available in January at select retailers across the country, with broad national distribution preceding an advertising campaign launching in March.

The sodas use a blend of caloric and non-caloric sweeteners to deliver a full flavor with just 10 calories per 12 o-ounce serving, according to Dr Pepper Snapple. The company noted that the new beverages follow up last year’s successful launch of Dr Pepper TEN.

Dr Pepper Snapple said it’s targeting consumers ages 25 to 39 who enjoy regular soda but have reduced their consumption because they’re watching their calories. The latest TEN beverages were tested throughout 2012 in several markets and have received a strong response, with 40% of sales incremental to the soft drink category, the company reported.

"We truly believe we’ve hit the sweet spot with our TEN products, providing both a fully satisfying flavor and low calories," stated Jim Trebilcock, executive vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper Snapple. "This new platform gives shoppers a great tasting experience and a reason to visit the soda aisle and enjoy the brands they love more often."
