HYDERABAD, India — Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has introduced Zenatane (isotretinoin capsules), an acne medication, in strengths of 20 mg and 40 mg.
The company said Friday that its product is a therapeutically equivalent generic version of Hoffman-LaRoche’s Accutane (isotretinoin capsules) in the U.S. market, where the Food and Drug Administration approved Zenatane in doses of 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg.
The total market for the medication, used to treat severe nodular acne that hasn’t responded to other treatments, had U.S. sales of about $309 Million for the 12 months ended January 2013, according to IMS Health data cited by Dr. Reddy’s.
Dr. Reddy’s said Zenatane capsules in doses of 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg will come in boxes of 30 (three prescription packs of 10 capsules) as unit dose blisters.
