NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Former Rite Aid Corp. executive Steve Parsons next week is slated to begin a new post as the top human resources officer at OfficeMax Inc.
The office supply store chain said Thursday that Parsons has been appointed executive vice president and chief human resources officer, effective July 25.
In the position, Parsons will report to OfficeMax president and chief executive officer Ravi Saligram and oversee all aspects of global human resources for the company, including talent management, compensation and benefits, training, leadership development, recruitment, diversity, and internal and corporate communications.
"OfficeMax has a compelling vision for the future," Parsons said in a statement. "I look forward to working with Ravi, the management team and all of our associates to maximize the potential of the OfficeMax organization to make this vision a reality."
Most recently, Parsons was senior vice president of Human Resources at Rite Aid, where he was responsible for all aspects of human resources and change management, serving 92,000 associates across more than 4,700 stores and 12 distribution centers. The drug store chain announced earlier this month that Parsons was leaving the company and would be replaced by Brian Fiala, previously executive vice president of store operations.
At Rite Aid, Parsons was instrumental in integrating the acquired Brooks Eckerd Pharmacy chain, according to OfficeMax. Before Rite Aid, he was senior vice president of human resources at Brooks Eckerd, and he also held senior human resources positions at Sears Holdings Corp.
"Steve is an excellent human resources leader with a proven track record for attracting world-class talent," Saligram stated. "And he will make significant contributions in taking our people and process capabilities to the next level."
