DUBLIN, Ireland — Warner Chilcott has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for Minastrin 24 FE capsules, an oral contraceptive.

The Ireland-based pharmaceutical company said Monday that it doesn’t expect to launch Minastrin 24 FE (norethindrone acetate and ethinyl estradiol capsules and ferrous fumarate capsules) commercially this year.

Minastrin 24 FE is indicated for use by women of reproductive age to prevent pregnancy.

The FDA approval was the second that Warner Chilcott has announced in about a week. On April 12, the company said it plans to release Doryx delayed-release tablets (200 mg), an antibiotic, this summer.
