WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic has opened its first walk-in medical clinics in the Corpus Christi, Texas, metropolitan area.

Parent company CVS Health said Thursday that two new MinuteClinics have opened inside CVS/pharmacy stores in Corpus Christi and Portland, Texas. Plans call for a third clinic to open in Corpus Christi in December.

With the Corpus Christi-area openings, MinuteClinics now has more than 80 retail clinics in Texas, including in the Austin, Beaumont-Port Arthur, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio metro areas.

CVS noted that the clinics are part of MinuteClinic’s national expansion plan to add 150 new clinics this year.

"Since opening our first store-based clinics in Texas in 2006, we have helped to expand access to high-quality, convenient medical care to thousands of Texas residents who have visited us at convenient CVS/pharmacy store locations near where they live and work," MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman, who’s also senior vice president and associate chief medical officer at CVS Health, said in a statement. "We believe MinuteClinic can be part of the solution to help broaden access to affordable medical care in Nueces and San Patricio counties."

MinuteClinic, the nation’s largest provider of retail clinics, operates over 900 locations in 30 states and the District of Columbia.
