NEW YORK — Friends Beverage Group LLC is introducing what it describes as a new beverage category from the south of France, the Friends Fun Wine In A Can Collection.

The company said Friday that Friends Fun Wines are low-alcohol Sangria and Moscato wines made from premium French grapes. Each 8.4-ounce can (250 ml) has two 4.2-ounces servings, with 75 calories per serving.

Friends Fun Wines, with 6% alcohol by volume (ABV), come in six varieties: Original White; Pink, Peach and Strawberry Moscato; and Original White and Red Sangria. The Moscatos and Sangrias are blended with citrus and berries for great flavor and aroma, according to the company.

Friends added that it has developed additional Moscato flavors for launch in 2014. The company also offers the Friends Just Wine Collection, which includes Cabernet Merlot and Chardonnay Sauvignon with 12% ABV.

"Friends is an everyday beverage for anyone who enjoys wine or beer and comes in a variety of flavors," stated Joe Bernstein, chairman of Friends Beverage Group. "Our wines are ‘delish,’ refreshing, affordable, convenient and portable, with a friendly taste. Our slim cans are attractive and 100% recyclable. Friends is bringing a fusion of European style and thinking to the U.S., encouraging consumers to think outside the bottle and pair wine in a can with amazing experiences, not just food."

Friends Fun Wine In A Can made its New York debut this past weekend in Long Island’s Hamptons area. Plans call for the product to be distributed in metropolitan New York by Phoenix/Beehive of Brooklyn, N.Y., starting in September.

Friends Beverage Group products are distributed in 23 states and are available in the United States at such retailers as Walmart, Kroger, 7-Eleven and CVS.
