PEAPACK, N.J. — Greenstone LLC has released colestipol hydrochloride granules for oral suspension, a cholesterol-lowering medication.

The Pfizer Inc. subsidiary said Tuesday that its colestipol hydrochloride granules come in cartons of 30 foils of 5 grams each, cartons of 90 foils of 5 grams each and bottles of 500 grams with a scoop.

Greenstone noted that its product is an authorized generic equivalent of Pfizer’s Colestid (colestipol hydrochloride granules for suspension).

Colestipol is indicated to help lower the risk of heart disease and arteriosclerosis by reducing low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol, the accumulation of which can lead to heart attacks, stroke and circulation problems.
