WASHINGTON — The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) announces the appointment of Kala Shankle as vice president of Regulatory Affairs.

In this position, Shankle will direct regulatory activities and priorities on behalf of HDA’s 35 healthcare distributor members. She will report to HDA Executive Vice President of Government Affairs, Patrick Kelly.

“Kala brings deep legal and pharmaceutical supply chain experience, which will be beneficial to our association when interfacing with regulatory agencies,” said Kelly. “As HDA’s healthcare distributor members navigate the final stages of Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) implementation and additional regulatory issues in the years to come, Kala will provide distributors with critical guidance to enable them to support a safe and effective pharmaceutical supply chain in the U.S.”

In her most recent role, Shankle worked as an attorney for Epstein, Becker and Green, where she counseled pharmaceutical supply chain stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters, including supply chain security, drug pricing, DSCSA implementation and the Inflation Reduction Act. Previously, she provided legal counsel, developed policy solutions and led regulatory engagement for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and the National Community Pharmacists Association.

She received both her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Criminology from Florida State University. She currently serves on the American Society for Pharmacy Law’s Board of Directors.
