HDA names Juan Carlos Payero director of state government affairs

He will report to Leah Lindahl, Vice President, State Government Affairs.

WASHINGTON — The Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) announces that Juan Carlos Payero has joined the association as Director of State Government Affairs. In this role, Mr. Payero will support HDA’s state advocacy and regulatory efforts in the Northeast region. He will report to Leah Lindahl, Vice President, State Government Affairs.

“Juan Carlos brings extensive experience developing and advancing public policy at the state and local levels,” said Ms. Lindahl. “His knowledge of the legislative process, record of building strong stakeholder relationships and deep background in healthcare policy will strengthen HDA’s engagement on behalf of our pharmaceutical distributor members. We are pleased to welcome him to the team.”

Mr. Payero most recently served as government affairs manager for the National Safety Council, where he led state-level advocacy on roadway, workplace and public safety priorities. He previously served as principal policy analyst for the Rhode Island Senate, managing the legislative portfolio of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services and advising leadership on healthcare and public health policy.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Payero served as deputy director of legislative and constituent affairs for the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services. In that position, he coordinated legislative affairs across several state health and human services agencies and worked with the General Assembly to advance healthcare initiatives.

Mr. Payero earned a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College at the City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s University.
