CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island — Island Abbey Foods Ltd. has entered a distribution agreement with Canadian drug chain Peoples Drug Mart.

The natural health product and specialty food maker said its Honibe Honey Lozenges will be carried in the cough and cold sections of participating Peoples Drug Marts and Peoples Pharmacies in British Columbia. The pharmacy chain has 46 stores in the province.

For the temporary relief of sore throat and nasal congestion, Honibe Honey Lozenges contain 99.99% pure honey, with a small amount of naturally derived menthol and eucalyptus and no artificial ingredients. They have only 10 calories per piece (2.6 g).

The brand will be featuring both flavors of its Honey Lozenges in Peoples Drug Mart and Peoples Pharmacy locations: Honey Lozenges with Menthol and Eucalyptus, and Honey Lozenges with Lemon, Menthol and Eucalyptus.

Honibe Honey Lozenges come in blister packages of 10 lozenges, and the product is conveniently sized for easy transport in pockets, cars, briefcases or purses.

"This agreement with Peoples Drug Mart is something that we are very proud to announce," commented John Rowe, president of Island Abbey Foods. "This agreement will allow our Honey Lozenges to have a greater presence in the western Canadian market while meeting the demand of an all-natural cough and cold product that Canadians are asking for."
