Kellogg unveils holiday Pringles, new snacks for 2013

Kellogg Co. has released limited-edition holiday flavors of its Pringles snack crisps and introduced a range of new snack items for 2013. The company said the Pringles holiday varieties include cinnamon and sugar, pumpkin pie spice and white chocolate peppermint .

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Kellogg Co. has released limited-edition holiday flavors of its Pringles snack crisps and introduced a range of new snack items for 2013.

The company said the Pringles holiday varieties include cinnamon and sugar, pumpkin pie spice and white chocolate peppermint .

Cinnamon and sugar and white chocolate peppermint Pringles are available for a limited time nationwide at supermarket and drug store retailers, while pumpkin pie spice Pringles are being offered exclusivly at Walmart.

"With more than 80 varieties of Pringles crisps available worldwide, we are constantly looking for innovative snack offerings," commented Angela Gusse, associate director of Pringles marketing. "This new line of holiday crisps meets consumer demand for more inventive flavors to enjoy."

New products for 2013 include crunchy granola bars, "guilt-free" treats, cookies and savory crackers, according to Kellogg.

"We have such a strong lineup of snack brands, including Pringles, Cheez-it, Special K, Keebler and Nutri-Grain," stated Alan Gravely, senior vice president of marketing and innovation for Kellogg Snacks. "So we are building off these brands with new products that reflect our deep understanding of people’s evolving taste preferences and nutrition needs."

From the Nutri-Grain brand in 2013 will be the new Nutri-Grain Fruit Crunch, crunchy granola bars that combine 20 grams of whole grain and real fruit.

Kellogg, too, is expanding its Special K smart snack lineup for weight managers with Special K Blondie Brownie Bites, a berry streusel Special K Pastry Crisp variety, and Special K honey barbecue cracker chips.

Also making its debut next year are FiberPlus Antioxidant Protein Chewy bars, available in mixed nut and peanut. The snack bars provide 10 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber, along with vitamin E and zinc, according to Kellogg.

Coming from Keebler in 2013 will be a return of Keebler Pitter Patter peanut butter sandwich cookies and the launch of the new Chips Deluxe Triple Chocolate. Keebler also has a new sweet-and-salty treat for on-the-go snacking with new peanut butter-filled, fudge-dipped pretzels. The bite-sized treats are covered in chocolate fudge or white fudge and packaged in single-serve pouches.

The Rice Krispies Treats Squares line is being extended with the new Double Chocolatey Chunk Rice Krispies Treats, which combine cocoa rice with chocolate chunks, with the bottom dipped in chocolate. The new Buttery Toffee Rice Krispies Treats will feature a buttery flavor with toffee bits topped and chocolatey drizzle.

In addition, Pringles is introducing French Onion Dip flavor crisps and reintroducing Pringles Stix in honey wheat, pizza and cheese varieties, as well as adding new flavors of Pringles Multigrain such as sour cream and onion and farmhouse cheddar. And the Cheez-It cracker brand is adding a provolone flavor, which Kellogg said marks the first appearance of a provolone variety in the cracker category.
