RALEIGH, N.C. — Mark Gregory has been appointed senior vice president of store operations at Kerr Drug.
The North Carolina drug chain said Tuesday that Gregory, previously vice president of pharmacy and government affairs, will now direct the retailer’s the district operational teams and report directly to president and chief executive officer Tony Civello. He starts in the new post immediately.
As vice president of pharmacy and government affairs, Gregory oversaw pharmacy systems, administration and automation, managed care contracting, store support, operational policies and procedures, compliance programs, university relationships, and government affairs activities, according to Kerr Drug, which has 90 drug stores. He also serves as the chain’s privacy officer and chairman of Kerr Drug’s PAC.
"Mark has extraordinary depth of intellect and experience in every facet of community pharmacy, from educational and legislative issues, to operations and administrative policies," Civello said in a statement. "He has been a primary voice in the retail pharmacy landscape for decades and has made significant impact at the national level on a multitude of issues."
Before joining Kerr Drug in 1997, Gregory was a practicing pharmacist for 11 years when he assumed corporate positions as manager of pharmacy systems and third-party programs at Thrift Drug Co. in Pittsburgh. After Eckerd Corp. acquired Thrift Drug, he worked for a brief time in pharmacy operations for Eckerd.
Gregory’s other pharmacy industry and professional activities include past president of North Carolina Association of Pharmacists; current chairman of the executive committee of the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association; member and past chair of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Policy Council; past chairman of the board of visitors for Campbell University School of Pharmacy; past chairman of the board of advisors at MUSC School of Pharmacy; member of the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy Board of Advisors; board member of the Wingate University School of Pharmacy Advisors; and immediate past facilitating chair for Coalition for Community Pharmacy Action.
