Cincinnati, Ohio – Kroger Health is expanding its Prescription Drug Safety: Know the Truth program to reach more than 470 schools across the United States. This initiative aims to educate teens on recognizing the dangers of prescription drug misuse and abuse, part of Kroger Health’s broader mission to promote healthier lives.

Launched in partnership with EVERFI, a leader in social impact education, the program provides free access to middle and high schools. Since its inception in 2018, it has already reached over 170,000 students, teaching critical topics like the science of addiction, the risks of misuse, and the importance of proper medication storage and disposal.

“We have all seen the real dangers that come with misuse of prescription drugs,” said Colleen Lindholz, president of Kroger Health. “By expanding this program with EVERFI, we are continuing to help young people recognize the warning signs of drug abuse and misuse.”

Alice Lee, head of Customer Experience and K-12 at EVERFI, emphasized the program’s impact: “Empowering our youth with knowledge about prescription drug safety is not just a necessity; it’s a catalyst for transforming communities. By equipping young people with the tools to make sound decisions, we are fostering healthier and more resilient communities.”

With this expansion, Kroger Health and EVERFI aim to tackle the persistent issue of prescription drug misuse by equipping students with the knowledge to make safer, informed decisions, contributing to healthier communities nationwide.
