Kroger pharmacies add Zepbound KwikPen

“Our customers and communities want affordable, effective weight-management treatment options with real affordability,” said Colleen Lindholz, group vice president and president of Kroger Health.

CINCINNATI — The Kroger Co. announced that the Zepbound KwikPen, a newly introduced multi-dose delivery method for the weight-management therapy developed by Eli Lilly and Company, is now available at participating Kroger pharmacies.

The move adds another retail pharmacy channel for the rapidly expanding GLP-1 obesity treatment, which has gained quick adoption as employers, digital health platforms, and pharmacy providers introduce new access and pricing models to help patients afford the medication.

As previously reported, Lilly has been expanding the distribution of Zepbound KwikPen through initiatives like its Employer Connect platform, which lets employers subsidize prescriptions and provide access to the drug via network pharmacies at transparent prices. Online providers and telehealth platforms have also started offering the medication through new care models that combine prescriptions with nutrition and behavioral support.

Kroger announced that its Family of Pharmacies will honor manufacturer-sponsored programs, including Lilly’s KwikPen Self-Pay Savings Card for Zepbound, in accordance with eligibility requirements and terms and conditions. The program could help lower out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients and is the first time the product's savings program is available to self-pay patients at a retail pharmacy.

“Our customers and communities want affordable, effective weight-management treatment options with real affordability,” said Colleen Lindholz, group vice president and president of Kroger Health. “Zepbound KwikPen is now accessible to patients at participating Kroger retail pharmacies, and for the first time this product is available to self-pay patients eligible for Lilly’s savings program at a retail pharmacy location.”

Kroger pharmacy teams will also help patients navigate payment options, including insurance coverage, manufacturer assistance programs, and discount cards, the company said.

Beyond dispensing prescriptions, Kroger said patients filling GLP-1 prescriptions can access a wider range of services aimed at supporting long-term health outcomes. These include pharmacist counseling on medication use and side effects, virtual nutrition care from registered dietitians, and integrated care connections with The Little Clinic provider locations when patients choose coordinated care.

The retailer also emphasized its capacity to link pharmacy services with in-store nutrition choices, enabling patients to fill prescriptions while also accessing protein- and fiber-rich foods that support weight-management goals.

The addition of Zepbound KwikPen at Kroger pharmacies reflects the continued expansion of GLP-1 therapies across healthcare and retail channels, as providers and pharmacy operators seek new ways to broaden access to high-demand weight-management treatments.
