SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Lewis Drugs has begun construction of a new-concept store in Sioux Falls, S.D., to be located on the southwest corner of 69th Street and Louise Avenue.

“We have listened to our customers and have designed a store that will make their shopping experience at Lewis more enjoyable and convenient,” says president and chief executive officer Mark Griffin, who details how the new drug store concept will improve customers’ shopping experience.

A state-of-the-art pharmacy located just inside one of the store’s two entrances will anchor the 35,000-square-foot building, he notes.

The new store will also feature a year-round garden center, a cosmetics boutique and walk-in beverage coolers. Lower shelf heights and wider aisles will make the store easier to navigate.

According to Griffin, the new store will offer additional selections of groceries, home decor and furniture, and will include a full line of wine and spirits.

The decision to build comes six years after the locally owned drug store chain purchased the property in southwest Sioux Falls.

“There are a lot more rooftops in the area today, and the major road construction on 69th and Louise has been completed,” notes Griffin. “On top of that, interest rates are low and construction companies are looking for work. We think this is the perfect time to build.”
