London Drugs stores already boast a unique product mix with their substantial consumer-electronics departments, which feature products ranging from digital cameras and flat-screen TVs to computers and mobile devices.

Yet now the retailer is adding another twist: a drone.

Starting on June 26, the western Canada drug chain plans to begin selling Solo, billed by personal drone company 3D Robotics as “the world’s first smart drone.”

The drone is intended for the capture of aerial photos and video, working with GoPro HD video cameras (sold separately), and can deliver live, streaming HD video straight to a mobile device (iOS or Android) or through the drone controller’s HDMI port.

London Drugs said the Solo drone will be priced at $1,299.99 and be available in all of its 78 brick-and-mortar stores, as well as through its online store.
