LIVONIA, Mich. — McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation (MPS&A) has released the McKesson Clinical Programs Solution, a new platform that enables pharmacists to build customized wellness programs.

MPS&A said Thursday that the Clinical Programs Solution also allows pharmacists to maintain vendor programs for patients with specific medical conditions and saves time and labor costs by automatically synchronizing the data of patients enrolled in a clinical program with McKesson’s EnterpriseRx pharmacy management system.

The Clinical Programs Solution offers a wide range of program management capabilities, including a patient-centric view of a patient’s programs and information, real-time notification if a patient is eligible for a clinical program when a prescription is being filled with EnterpriseRx, and a central platform for pharmacies with multiple locations to manage all of their clinical programs.

“In today’s increasingly competitive health care reimbursement environment, pharmacies are under more pressure than ever to create and manage clinical programs that address patient wellness,” stated MPS&A president Emilie Ray. “Our Clinical Programs Solution can help meet this challenge by providing pharmacists with a flexible, easy-to-use tool to build and manage clinical services that best suit their patients’ needs and positively impact their pharmacy’s bottom line.”

MPS&A said that it’s pursuing strategic alliances with clinical program vendors to integrate their services with the Clinical Programs Solution platform.

“We are excited and proud to launch this new service for our EnterpriseRx customers,” Ray added. “We believe it will be a tremendous asset for pharmacies as they strive to improve adherence performance and expand clinical care for their patients.”
