Medicine Shoppe Canada has enlisted media software provider ScreenScape to implement a digital signage network that connects its pharmacies across Canada and presents value-added health care information to customers.

EDMONTON, Alberta, and CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island — Medicine Shoppe Canada has enlisted media software provider ScreenScape to implement a digital signage network that connects its pharmacies across Canada and presents value-added health care information to customers.

The McKesson Canada drug store franchise said Wednesday that the network was operational at 60 pharmacy locations at the end of 2012, and another 30 are slated to be added this year.

Overall, Medicine Shoppe Canada has more than 170 retail pharmacies nationwide.

"Place-based media offers us an efficient means to impart valuable information to customers while they visit our pharmacies. ScreenScape offers the right combination of ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness that has proven to be the right fit for us," Jon Johnson, director of operations and training for Medicine Shoppe Canada, said in a statement.

A software service, ScreenScape disseminates digital media content for retail marketing. The national network deliver on-site health information to patients and customers at such venues as retail pharmacies, health clinics, doctor’s offices and retail stores.

"It’s gratifying to see businesses like Medicine Shoppe Canada having this kind of success with place-based media," commented ScreenScape president Kevin Dwyer. "Pharmacy owners are central players in the new health care delivery model. They need state-of-the-art technology to educate customers, promote a healthy lifestyle and provide excellent customer service."
