WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic has opened its first location in southwestern Virginia and soon plans more clinics in the area.
The CVS Caremark retail health clinic subsidiary said Thursday that the new MinuteClinic inside its CVS/pharmacy store in Christiansburg, Va., now gives it 27 walk-in medical clinics in Virginia.
Five more MinuteClinics are slated to open in southwestern Virginia in September and October, in the communities of Hollins, Lynchburg, Radford, Roanoke and Salem.
"Since opening our first store-based clinic in Virginia in 2006, we have helped expand access to high-quality, convenient and affordable care to thousands of residents who have visited us at convenient CVS/pharmacy locations near where they live and work," MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman said in a statement.
"We believe MinuteClinic can be part of the solution to Virginia’s efforts to broaden access to quality health services," added Sussman, who’s also senior vice president and associate chief medical officer at CVS Caremark.
Overall, MinuteClinic has more than 680 locations in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
