MEMPHIS, Tenn. — MinuteClinic is adding more walk-in medical clinic locations in the Memphis, Tenn., metropolitan area.

The CVS Health subsidiary said Friday that three clinics opened in Memphis and Cordova earlier this month. Plans call for a fourth clinic to open in Springfield on Sept. 24 and a fifth clinic to open in Bartlett on Oct. 22.

The new retail clinics join 27 other MinuteClinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in Tennessee, including in the Chattanooga, Knoxville and Nashville metro areas.

"The first MinuteClinic in Tennessee opened in 2005, and since then hundreds of thousands of Volunteer State residents have taken advantage of the increased access to high-quality, convenient and affordable medical care available at many CVS/pharmacy stores," MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman said in a statement.

"The demand for MinuteClinic services will grow in Tennessee due in part to the shortage of primary care physicians, the aging baby boomer population and the influx of newly insured patients through the Affordable Care Act," added Sussman, , who’s also senior vice president/associate chief medical officer at CVS Health.

Overall, MinuteClinic has more than 900 locations in 29 states and the District of Columbia.
