CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. plans to hold another round of flu shot clinics at hundreds of stores next week.
The drug store chain said more than 800 Rite Aid pharmacies nationwide are scheduled to host clinics for flu vaccinations November 9, 10 and 11. The flu vaccines, which cost $24.99, will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, and customers can find stores holding the clinics by visiting, www.riteaid.com/flu.
Flu shots are also being administered by more than 7,000 immunizing pharmacists at over 3,000 Rite Aid stores on a walk-in or appointment basis.
Rite Aid noted that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it can take up to two weeks for flu shots to be effective and protect against the flu.
"Flu shots should be part of everyone’s holiday to-do list," Robert Thompson, executive vice president of pharmacy at Rite Aid, said in a statement. "With holiday celebrations around the corner, now is the perfect time to get vaccinated."
Customers getting a flu immunization at Rite Aid will receive a free coupon booklet that offers over $100 in savings, including discounts on health and wellness, beauty and household items and other products.
Rite Aid also is providing pneumococcal shots at the flu clinics and through its immunizing pharmacists. The pneumococcal shots, which can be administered at the same time as a flu shot, cost $50.
