Mylan begins shipping Antara generic

Mylan Inc. has released fenofibrate capsules in dosages of 43 mg and 130 mg, used to treat high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. The company said Monday that the product, rolled out by its Mylan Pharmaceuticals subsidiary, is the generic version of Lupin Atlantis Holdings’ Antara capsules.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan Inc. has released fenofibrate capsules in dosages of 43 mg and 130 mg, used to treat high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.

The company said Monday that the product, rolled out by its Mylan Pharmaceuticals subsidiary, is the generic version of Lupin Atlantis Holdings’ Antara capsules.

Specifically, fenofibrate capsules are indicated as an adjunct to diet to lower elevated LDL-C, Total-C, triglycerides and Apo B, as well as to increase HDL-C in adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia and to reduce triglyceride levels in adult patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia, according to Mylan.

Fenofibrate capsules 43 mg and 130 mg had U.S. sales of about $60 million for the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 2012, based on IMS Health figures cited by Mylan.
