Mylan releases generic Detrol

Mylan Inc. has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to market tolterodine tartrate tablets (1 mg and 2 mg), a bladder medication. The company said Thursday that the product, which is shipping immediately, is a generic version of Pharmacia and Upjohn’s Detrol tablets.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan Inc. has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to market tolterodine tartrate tablets (1 mg and 2 mg), a bladder medication.

The company said Thursday that the product, which is shipping immediately, is a generic version of Pharmacia and Upjohn’s Detrol tablets.

The medication is indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary incontinence, urgency and frequency.

Tolterodine tartrate tablets had U.S. sales of about $61.5 million for the 12 months ended Sept. 30 according to IMS Health data reported by Mylan.
