ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores participated in a House Community Pharmacy Caucus "Pharmacy 101" briefing this week.
NACDS said Wednesday that the briefing, in which the American Pharmacists Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association also participated, outlined the key role that pharmacists play in providing access to care and preventive services, which improve patient outcomes and reduce overall health care costs.
Speakers also gave firsthand accounts of the value and benefits that pharmacists provide, while also emphasizing the need to compensate pharmacists for the patient care services they provide.
The associations, too, reiterated their support of the Medication Therapy Management Empowerment Act of 2013, which would expand eligibility for MTM services in Medicare Part D to a single chronic condition.
NACDS noted that the legislation currently has strong bipartisan support, with 157 co-sponsors for the House bill and 30 co-sponsors for the Senate version.
