MIAMI — Navarro Discount Pharmacy showcased its remodeled store in Coral Gables, Fla., with a grand opening event attended by company executives and local officials.

The South Florida drug store chain, the nation’s largest Hispanic-owned pharmacy operator, said it invested $125,000 in the store remodeling, which includes a new self-serve designer fragrance counter, enhanced wood displays at all checkout counters and the pharmacy, wider aisles, and signage in both English and Spanish.
The first 100 customers at the late April grand opening event received free shopping bags with products.
Storewide activities included breakfast and coffee, music, raffle, prizes and free vendor product samplings.
Attending the grand reopening were Navarro chief executive officer Juan Ortiz; Mayor Jim Cason, Vice Mayor Bill Kerdyk, Commissioner Ralph Cabrera and Commissioner Frank Quesada from the City of Coral Gables; Mark Trowbridge, president and CEO, and Drew Kern, chairman, of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce; and Mari Gallet, executive director of the business improvement district of Coral Gables.
In March, Navarro opened its 31st store in Pembroke Pines, Fla. The chain previously had a store in Pembroke Pines from 2000 to 2009. And in early December, Navarro announced the opening of its 30th drug store, in Homestead, Fla.
Both of the new locations are part of Navarro’s three-year, 22-store expansion strategy throughout the state.
