ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The community pharmacist members of the National Community Pharmacists Association have elected a slate of leaders for the upcoming year, including a new president.
Mark Riley, executive vice president of the Arkansas Pharmacists Association and owner of East End Pharmacy in Little Rock, Ark., was named NCPA president.
NCPA noted that Riley is a leading expert on the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) industry, having served as a PBM executive. He also has appeared on Capitol Hill numerous times as a subject matter expert on the topic.
"We congratulate Mark on his appointment as president of NCPA," NCPA chief executive officer B. Douglas Hoey said in a statement. "Mark is a distinguished leader known and respected by many independent community pharmacists. We thank him for all of his previous service to NCPA and for taking on this position. NCPA members are fortunate to have a world-class assembly of community pharmacy owners and pharmacists serving as officers to lead their trade association."
Officers were elected during the House of Delegates session at NCPA’s 115th Annual Convention and Trade Exposition.
Besides Riley, those confirmed as NCPA board members John Sherrer (Marietta, Ga.) as president-elect, Bradley Arthur (Buffalo, N.Y.) as chairman, DeAnn Mullins (Lynn Haven, Fla.), David Smith (Indiana, Penn.), Bill Osborn (Miami, Okla.), Brian Caswell (Baxter Springs, Kan.), Michele Belcher (Grants Pass, Ore.) and Donnie Calhoun (Anniston, Ala.). Calhoun is immediate past president.
New officers elected were Jeff Harrell (Ilwaco, Wash.) as fourth vice president and Kristen Riddle (Conway, Ark.) as fifth vice president. Harrell is co-owner of six pharmacies in Washington state, most located in the state’s southwestern Peninsula region, and all are part of Penninsula Pharmacies Inc. Riddle is president and director of clinical services at U.S. Compounding Pharmacy in Conway, Ark., and is partner/owner in a community pharmacy, Adherence Model Pharmacy.
Also confirmed as NCPA officers were Hugh Chancy (Hahira, Ga.) as first vice president, Jeff Carson (San Antonio, Texas) as second vice president and Lea Wolsoncroft (Birmingham, Ala.) as third vice president.
