Besides offering a variety of health screenings, the Health Stations allow customers to create Personal Health Assessments. |
The regional food and drug retailer and CDPHP said Thursday that the Health Stations give customers access to a variety of health services right in a Price Chopper pharmacy.
Free screenings available at the kiosk include blood pressure, weight, heart rate, blood oxygen and temperature. Users also can create a Personal Health Assessment that can be printed at the Health Station or via the pharmacy area of the Price Chopper website.
The Health Stations, from blood pressure test equipment and health care kiosk maker Computerized Screening Inc. (CSI), are located in six Price Chopper stores, in Bethlehem, Schenectady, Glenmont, Malta, Johnstown and Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
"The Affordable Care Act emphasizes the need for preventive and efficient health care. Pharmacies can play an integral role by providing greater access to screenings and valuable health services," Kathy Bryant, vice president of pharmacy at Price Chopper, said in a statement. "Price Chopper is in a unique position to offer access and advocate wellness programs in our communities. The collaboration among our pharmacists, dietitians, CDPHP and innovative technology offered at the Health Stations offers an opportunity for better patient health care outcomes."
CDPHP and Price Chopper Pharmacy partner on other health initiatives such as medication therapy management, medical nutrition therapy and immunization services.
"These Health Stations will provide our members unique access to benefits and services at a time and place that’s convenient for them," stated John Bennett, president and chief executive officer of CDPHP, a nonprofit health benefits provider serving New York’s Capital Region. "As we enter a new era in health care, we are thrilled to partner with Price Chopper Supermarkets, an organization that shares our commitment to community wellness."
Other health programs offered by Price Chopper pharmacies include Diabetes AdvantEdge, free antibiotics, Rx AdvantEdge, immunizations, and free children’s and prenatal vitamins. All Price Chopper pharmacists are certified immunizers and provide flu and shingles vaccines. Overall, the supermarket chain has 132 stores, more than 80 with in-store pharmacies, in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
