WESTON, Fla. — Pro-Lab is expanding its line of home health tests with the introduction of the new Allergen Test Kit.

The company said Monday that the Pro-Lab Allergen Test Kit offers a simple, affordable way to detect allergen particles.

To use the test, consumers just secure the included attachment to a vacuum nozzle and run it in suspect locations. Once the sample cassette is filled, they simply place it in the pre-addressed mailer to be sent and analyzed.

"Home should be a haven, not a source of irritation. Unfortunately, allergies are becoming more prevalent with millions of Americans suffering year-round because of allergens trapped within their homes. We created the Allergen Test Kit to give Americans the resource they need to identify the source of their ailments," stated Jamie McDonnell, chief executive officer of Pro-Lab.

According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the most common indoor allergens include dust mites, mold spores and pet dander, and the enclosed nature of indoor environments exacerbates the threat of allergens to respiratory health, Pro-Lab said.

The Allergen Test Kit employs the same testing methods used by doctors and professional home inspectors, the company noted. Using analytical technology called Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Analysis, the test gives consumers accurate results.

"The results empower families with the knowledge needed to protect themselves. Pinpointing the location of allergens allows them to be eradicated instead of continuing with endless symptom treatment," added McDonnell.

Priced a $9.95, the Allergen Test Kits will be available Aug. 1. Pro-Lab products are sold at over 40,000 leading home centers, hardware stores and pharmacy chains.
