CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is offering discounted flu shots in recognition of National Influenza Vaccination Week.
The drug chain said Monday that through Dec. 15, flu vaccines will be available at all Rite Aid pharmacies at a reduced price of $24.99, subject to state regulations. The discount applies to standard flu or Fluzone Intradermal dose.
National Influenza Vaccination Week, an annual initiative of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), runs Dec. 2 to Dec. 8.
The effort is intended to support continuing flu immunizations and foster greater use of the flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond, when flu season typically escalates. Flu season can begin as early as October and continue through mid-May, with the highest concentration of cases usually occurring between December and April.
"The CDC is reporting an increase in flu activity in parts of the country and expects to see more activity during the winter months, which is when flu season typically peaks," Robert Thompson, executive vice president of pharmacy at Rite Aid, said in a statement. "National Influenza Vaccination Week is the perfect time for us to remind anyone who hasn’t done so already that it isn’t too late to visit their local Rite Aid for their flu shot. By getting vaccinated now, they’ll be protecting themselves and those around them throughout this year’s flu season."
Those receiving a flu shot at a Rite Aid pharmacy get a free coupon booklet with more than $100 in savings on products available at the drug chain.
