CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. recognized one of its drivers after he won the company’s annual Driver Skills Challenge for the first time.
The drug chain said Monday that Paul Matyseck of Lancaster, Calif., won his first skills challenge after nine years of driving for the company. He has been a delivery operator at Rite Aid’s Lancaster distribution center for nine years.
Matyseck and 11 other Rite Aid drivers traveled to Perryman, Md., to compete in the driver skills competition last month.
Rite Aid started the Driver Skills Challenge in 2004. The competition recognizes Rite Aid drivers who are committed to road safety and driving excellence. A driver representing each of the company’s 12 facilities competes in a series of American Trucking Association format challenges designed to test their driving skills and knowledge.
"It’s a great way for us to show our drivers how proud we are of them and how much we appreciate the significant role they play in delivering a great customer experience," Wilson Lester, senior vice president of supply chain at Rite Aid, said in a statement. "I’d like to congratulate Paul and thank him and all of the drivers who competed today for their commitment to road safety and customer service."
