CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. is offering a free Medicare Part D planning guide in stores, along with pharmacist counseling and online tools, to help senior citizens during the enrollment period for the prescription drug coverage.
The drug store chain said Monday that the "Medicare Part D For Seniors" guide is now available in its pharmacy locations nationwide as well as on its web site. Included in the guide are a brief discussion about Medicare Part D, an explanation about why it’s necessary for seniors to evaluate plans, six steps to pick a new plan and a directory of resources.
Besides the guide, Rite Aid’s web site also features the Medicare Advisor tool, which the company said brings push-button simplicity to finding and choosing the right Medicare prescription plan. The tool provides a detailed comparison of all available local plans — with drug prices, deductibles and monthly premiums — so patients can compare plans side by side.
In addition, pharmacists in more than 4,800 Rite Aid stores are offering Medicare Part D consultations and can print a personalized report featuring the three lowest-cost plans best for seniors’ medication needs.
The enrollment period for Medicare Part D began November 15 and runs until December 31.
Rite Aid added that it offers senior citizens extra benefits via its free Living More loyalty program, which now has more than 4 million members. Benefits, which may vary by region or location, include a 20% discount on purchases the first Tuesday of every month, a 10% discount on the other Tuesdays of the month, 10% off cash prescriptions every day and a 10% savings on Rite Aid brand products every day, as well as exclusive specials throughout the store.
