BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam’s Club has initiated a price match program for flu vaccinations at its pharmacies.
The Walmart warehouse club chain on Monday announced the availability of seasonal flu shots for the 2014-15 flu season for members and nonmembers at its 599 pharmacy locations nationwide.
To encourage more people to get a flu vaccination, Sam’s Club also said it will match the price of any competitor’s flu vaccines through its low price promise. The offer includes weekly retailer prices for the same immunizations through Jan. 31, 2015.
Sam’s Club pharmacies will administer flu shots on a walk-in basis and by appointment. Vaccines offered include the standard three-strain trivalent flu shot, four-strain quadrivalent flu shot and high-dose flu shot, which is designed for seniors.
For small-business customers, Sam’s Club also will be providing in-office flu vaccinations for their employees, administered by a pharmacist. The service will be available in select locations.
"With the flu season approaching us, Sam’s Club wants to provide its communities with easy access and the most cost-efficient way to get vaccinated by offering its low price promise," Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of health and wellness at Sam’s Club, said in a statement. "We hope through this offering, and our pharmacists’ ability to provide patients with additional information on flu prevention, we can help people take the right steps to stay healthy this flu season."
The retailer added that it also provides flu vaccinations and other vaccines for children ages 8 and older. For adults, nine other year-round immunizations are available, including pneumonia (pneumococcal), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), shingles (herpes zoster), chickenpox (varicella), HPV (human papillomavirus), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), meningitis (meningococcal) and hepatitis A/B.
Overall, Sam’s Club operates 642 wholesale club locations in the United States and Puerto Rico.
