WARREN, N.J. — Whether it’s a sharp shock or a minor twinge of pain, Sensodyne feels that there’s an easy way to help relieve pain caused by sensitive teeth.
“Sensodyne is the No. 1 dentist-recommended toothpaste brand for sensitive teeth. Since 1961, Sensodyne has been formulating toothpastes specifically designed to help people overcome tooth sensitivity pain while providing essential oral care benefits such as cavity protection, gum health, whitening and breath freshening,” says Sue Vlcko, vice president of oral health at Haleon.
Vlcko notes that Sensodyne offers a wide range of toothpastes for sensitive teeth pain relief. “The brand’s newest innovation, Sensodyne Clinical White, launched last year and delivers two shades whiter teeth and 24/7 sensitivity protection when used twice a day. The triple-action formula contains clinically proven whitening ingredients that whiten, polish and prolong the protection against surface stains. Sensodyne Clinical White is also enamel safe and gentle enough to use every day. We are extremely excited about this new offering, which was recently recognized as a 2024 Allure Best of Beauty winner.”
As for trends, she points out that oral care is an essential part of everyday self-care, and more people are realizing that proper oral health is directly linked to overall health, causing people to prioritize an effective oral care routine. Inclusivity in oral care has become another hot topic in the industry that we are working to address. Despite growing awareness of neurodivergent and sensory sensitive populations, there are limited resources for how to provide sensory-inclusive care in the dentist office. In fact, 91% of dentists have not had formal training in treating patients with sensory sensitivities, causing 90% of people with sensory needs — which include sensitivities to sounds, lights or textures — to find dentist visits difficult, according to a survey we commissioned,” she says.
Vlcko says that as a result, Sensodyne — in collaboration with the American Dental Association and sensory accessibility nonprofit KultureCity — just launched the Sensory Inclusion Initiative. “The initiative invests in education, training, tools and resources for patients with sensory needs as well as dentists to help close this gap and connect patients with dentists who understand their needs. Specifically, Sensodyne sponsored a suite of CE-accredited courses to educate dentists and dental professionals on neurodiversity and sensory sensitivity, developed by the American Dental Association, as well as collaborated with KultureCity to develop the Sensodyne x KultureCity Sensory Inclusive Certification program to support dental professionals in creating more accessible office experiences.”

She adds that on March 3, Sensory Overload debuted on Hulu. Produced by Vox Creative, Publicis Le One — Powered by Digitas, Sensodyne and Samantha Knowles, and directed by Kiana Moore, this feature-length documentary explores the need for more sensory-inclusive spaces.
Sensodyne is sold in numerous retailers, which varies by product, but it is most commonly found on Amazon, Walmart, Costco, Target, Dollar General and CVS.
“With approximately 2,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, consumers are enjoying Sensodyne Clinical White. More importantly, we hope our mission to provide lasting protection for all people with sensitivities is resonating with users while helping them get whiter, stronger smiles in the process. We are also getting great feedback on our work with the American Dental Association and KultureCity and are excited to see how the Sensodyne Sensory Inclusion Initiative will help create more sensory-inclusive dentist offices,” she concludes.
