NEW YORK — South Beach Diet has expanded its line nutritious snacks with two new snack bars.

The company on Thursday introduced South Beach Diet ProteinFit Bars and the South Beach Diet Snack Bar.

South Beach Diet’s highest protein bars, ProteinFit bars can be consumed before or after a workout or any time. Loaded with 16 grams of protein and 10 grams of fiber, the bars help build lean muscle while keeping you full and satisfied until the next meal, the company said.

The ProteinFit bars come in two varieties: Vanilla Caramel and Honey Peanut, both with a Greek yogurt coating.

Meanwhile, the new Chocolate Caramel Nut Snack Bar is light on calories (100 calories) and big on taste, with chewy caramel and crunchy peanuts covered in a chocolatey layer, while providing 6 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber, according to South Beach Diet.

Unlike most items sold in the diet aisle, the new South Beach Diet bars have no artificial flavors or sweeteners, the company noted.

"We’re pleased to provide great snacks that fit right into consumers’ plans to look terrific all summer long," stated Elise Donahue, chief executive officer of the South Beach Diet. "We like to satisfy their taste buds with surprisingly delicious snacks that are also protein- and fiber-rich to help curb sweet cravings as part of a balanced weight-loss plan. These are tasty treats, for those on a diet or simply loving a perfect snack."

The company added that the ProteinFit bars and its Chocolate Caramel Nut Snack Bar join the brand’s new South Beach Diet Snack Smoothies, which are shelf-stable, single-serve, ready-to-drink smoothies. The fruit-flavored smoothies provide 6 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber and are made with natural sweeteners.

South Beach Diet products are sold at such food and drug retailers as Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Kroger, Publix and Safeway.
