QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. has begun providing flu vaccinations at all of its in-store pharmacies.
The Ahold USA supermarket chain said Monday that flu shots are being offered on a walk-in basis and available from Stop & Shop pharmacists whenever the pharmacy is open.
"Stop & Shop is committed to providing health and wellness solutions across our store, from the produce department to the pharmacy," Joel Berman, director of pharmacy for the Stop & Shop New England division, said in a statement. "Because of increased costs, many customers are looking for affordable solutions to keep themselves and their families healthy. We’re glad to do our part by offering convenient and affordable immunizations each year."
Flu immunizations are priced at $30. Stop & Shop said it also has partnered with health-related vendors to offer a free coupon book with more than $30 in savings to customers who receive a flu shot.
With more than 400 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey, Stop & Shop added that it has taken extra steps to ensure its pharmacies and health departments are well-stocked to handle flu-related prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines.
The chain said its pharmacists are also available to provide on-site flu clinics at workplaces and businesses in the communities served by its stores.
