FDA initiates action against McNeil-PPC

Taking action in the wake of massive product recalls, the Food and Drug Administration has initiated the filing of a consent decree of permanent injunction against McNeil-PPC and two of its officers for failing to comply with federal good manufacturing practice requirements.

P&G global supply chief to retire

Procter & Gamble Co. has announced a leadership succession for its global product supply officer. P&G said Thursday that global product supply officer R. Keith Harrison, 63, is slated to retire on Sept. 1 after more than 41 years of service.

Allergan president to become Hospira CEO

Michael Ball, currently president of Allergan Inc., has been named chief executive officer at specialty pharmaceutical company Hospira Inc. Hospira said Monday that Ball, 55, is slated to take the CEO reins at the company effective March 28. He also will become a board member.

Qualitest cleared to market oral contraceptive

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals has received approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its Emoquette oral contraceptive. The company, acquired late last year by Endo Pharmaceuticals, said Friday that it was cleared by the FDA to market Emoquette (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol) in 0.15 mg/0.
