Mylan releases generic Detrol

Mylan Inc. has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to market tolterodine tartrate tablets (1 mg and 2 mg), a bladder medication. The company said Thursday that the product, which is shipping immediately, is a generic version of Pharmacia and Upjohn’s Detrol tablets.

Coty plans Katy Perry fragrance line

Coty Inc. has signed singing star Katy Perry to develop and market her own line of signature fragrances. The company said Wednesday that as part of the project it will also distribute Perry’s existing fragrance portfolio, comprised of Purr and Meow!, effective immediately.

Ranbaxy recalls generic Lipitor in U.S.

Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. is voluntarily recalling select batches and dosages of atorvastatin calcium tablets, a generic version of the cholesterol-lowering drug Lipitor, in the United States. The drugmaker said on its website Friday that the recall is being conducted in the U.S.

Reckitt Benckiser inks deal to acquire Schiff

Reckitt Benckiser Group has signed an agreement to acquire Schiff Nutrition International Inc. in a $1.4 billion deal. The agreement comes less than a week after Reckitt Benckiser announced a tender offer to buy all of the outstanding shares of Schiff for $42 per share in cash.
