SheaMoisture, Walgreens team on organic hair care launch

Natural skin care brand SheaMoisture has partnered with Walgreen Co. to roll out a new organic hair care line. The company said Friday that Walgreen will be the exclusive national drug store retail partner for the new line, which includes shampoos, conditioners and styling aids.

GSK penicillin acquisition closed by Dr. Reddy’s

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has wrapped up its acquisition of GlaxoSmithKline’s U.S. oral penicillin facility and product portfolio. With the deal, which was announced last November, Dr. Reddy’s takes over the GlaxoSmithKline’s penicillin manufacturing site in Bristol, Tenn.

Summer Infant Inc. is branching its baby care portfolio into the infant feeding space with the acquisition of BornFree Holdings Ltd. Summer Infant said Monday the deal also stands to open up the drug store market for its baby products.

Qualitest approved for toresmide tablets

Qualitest Pharmaceuticals has received clearance for toresmide tablets, a diuretic medication. The Endo Pharmaceuticals subsidiary said Thursday that the Food and Drug Administration has approved toresmide tablets in 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 100 mg strengths.

Covidien CEO to retire; successor named

Richard Meelia is slated to retire as president and chief executive officer of Covidien this summer. The pharmaceutical and health care products company said plans call for Meelia to retire on July 1 and then serve as nonexecutive chairman during a transition period of up to one year.
