Thrifty White Pharmacy rolls out 8112 universal digital coupons chainwide

The chainwide rollout marks a significant expansion of 8112 coupon functionality at the pharmacy point of sale.

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — Thrifty White Pharmacy has enabled AI (8112) Universal Digital Coupon acceptance at all Thrifty White Health locations, becoming the largest independent pharmacy retailer to support the emerging digital coupon standard nationwide.

The chainwide rollout was completed in partnership with nData Services and Retail Management Solutions, marking a significant expansion of 8112 coupon functionality at the pharmacy point of sale.

Company executives said the move improves checkout efficiency while strengthening security and fraud controls. “The 8112 standard provides a more secure and efficient way to handle coupons at the point of sale,” said Jeremy Faulks, vice president of pharmacy operations at Thrifty White. “Adopting 8112 digital coupons aligns with our commitment to convenient, community-focused care while maintaining secure and efficient store operations.”

Under the agreement, nData Services will handle coupon clearing and settlement, and deliver in-store and CPG offers to customers through its Coupon24 digital wallet. Thrifty White will also be able to create and manage its own digital coupon campaigns, including promotions linked to vaccinations and clinical care services.

“Deploying 8112 coupons helps strengthen Thrifty White’s customer value proposition in a highly competitive retail pharmacy market,” said Samuel Jonas, CEO of nData Services.

Retail Management Solutions led the technical deployment, integrating 8112 functionality into Thrifty White’s POS systems across its network. “Secure, real-time coupon validation is essential for pharmacies that want to innovate without adding operational risk,” said Brad Jones, CEO of RMS. “This integration expands digital promotions, reduces fraud and delivers a smoother checkout experience.”

Thrifty White Health operates about 100 owned community pharmacies and nearly 90 independently owned locations, mainly across the Midwest, and is licensed in all 50 states. The company has increasingly positioned its pharmacies as healthcare hubs, offering vaccinations, medical services, and specialty pharmacy care alongside traditional retail operations.

Industry observers see the rollout as a significant sign of wider adoption of the GS1-based 8112 digital coupon standard, especially among independent and regional pharmacy operators looking for alternatives to traditional coupon systems.
