DEERFIELD, Ill. — As part of Walgreen Co.’s sponsorship of "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice," the finalists and their signature Good & DeLish premium ice cream flavors were announced during the first of two season finale episodes.
Walgreens said late Monday that Trace Adkins and Penn Jillette participated in the hit NBC-TV show’s challenge to create unique flavors of premium ice cream that are only available at Walgreens and Duane Reade stores.
Adkins created a "Maple Macadamia Mash-Up" flavor, and Jillette invented a flavor dubbed "Vanilla & Chocolate Magic Swirtle."
Sampling will take place at select Walgreens and Duane Reade locations nationwide.
Walgreens noted that viewers can help decide which celebrity’s charity of choice gets an additional $100,000 donation from the drug chain by heading to their local Walgreens store this week and buying their favorite celebrity flavor, while supplies last.
The top-selling celebrity flavor will influence which celebrity’s charity of choice receives the donation. Adkins’ charity is American Red Cross, and Jillette’s charity is Opportunity Village.
"Once again, we are thrilled to be a part of The Celebrity Apprentice and look forward to sharing the finalists’ Good & DeLish premium ice cream flavors with our customers nationwide," Bryan Pugh, vice president of merchandising, store design and well experience at Walgreens, said in a statement. "This product challenge further supports the wide variety of innovative and premium Good & DeLish products that Walgreens offers."
