BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is helping its customers get ahead of the holiday rush. The retailer has announced its earliest-ever start to the shopping season with major savings beginning in October. The retailer said it is addressing the needs of the nearly 50% of shoppers who are already starting making holiday purchases.
“We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday — more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long,” said Latriece Watkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S.
Kicking off the savings is Walmart's first "Holiday Deals" event, running from October 8-13, both online and in stores, with significant discounts across popular categories including electronics, home, fashion, toys, and more. Walmart+ members will have exclusive early access to deals starting at midnight on October 8, a full 12 hours before the general public.
Walmart's early shopping strategy aligns with the broader retail trend of catering to consumers eager to avoid last-minute stress and maximize their holiday budgets. This year's campaign also includes the return of Walmart's inflation-free holiday meal, offering a complete Thanksgiving dinner for less than $7 per person, starting on October 14.
As the holiday season progresses, Walmart is positioning itself to meet demand with best-in-class delivery options, including early morning and express services, and leveraging AI technology to extend its reach to an additional 12 million households.
