Walmart names new VP for O-T-Cs

Walmart has transitioned two merchandising executives to new roles. Annie Walker has been named the new vice president of merchandising operations, apparel, for Walmart U.S. She will report to Kevin Pate.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart has transitioned two merchandising executives to new roles. Annie Walker has been named the new vice president of merchandising operations, apparel, for Walmart U.S. She will report to Kevin Pate. Julie Barber will take over as the new vice president and divisional merchandise manager of O-T-C merchandising, reporting to Latriece Watkins.

“We are pleased to announce the transition of two strong merchandising leaders to new roles within the division,” an email explaining the move to Walmart U.S. associates stated. “This rotation will provide further experience in new environments and industries, and it reflects our commitment to leadership development and growth in our talent pipeline.”

Walker began her Walmart career in 2002 as an industrial engineer with Walmart’s store engineering team, before moving to replenishment, where she served in several roles, including senior director of replenishment for the general merchandise division. In 2012, Walker was promoted to vice president for merchandise execution, responsible for developing and implementing strategies that support and drive the merchant strategy through store execution. She transitioned to her most recent position, vice president of O-T-C merchandising, in 2015.

“We expect Annie to bring her strong process discipline, execution skills and team collaboration to her new assignment,” the email stated.

Julie Barber

Barber began her Walmart career in 2005 as an analyst in the company’s money service department, working her way up to senior group manager. Over the course of four years, Barber led the growth of the check cashing business, where she was recognized with the Business Growth award and the Above and Beyond award. She also held roles as a senior buyer for fresh and frozen poultry, and merchandise manager for pork and poultry. In 2015, Barber became the merchandise manager for the snacks business. She was promoted to her most recent position as vice president of snacks in 2016.

“We expect Julie’s strengths in strategic planning and thought leadership to bring new opportunities within O-T-C merchandising,” the email said. “Julie’s backfill will be named at a later time.”
