CHICAGO — Wild Ophelia has landed national retail distribution for its chocolate bar line at Walgreen Co.

The chocolate maker said Friday that its products are now available at Walgreens drug stores nationwide.

Wild Ophelia chocolate is known for its all-natural and often organic ingredients sourced from small farms and food artisans. Chocolate bar flavors available at Walgreens starting this month include Peanut Butter and Banana, Beef Jerky, BBQ Potato Chip, New Orleans Chili and Sweet Cherry Pecan.

"Our chocolate is geared towards new tastes and attitudes. The trends seen in Wild Ophelia are the future of chocolate: becoming a part of the American farmer and food artisan movement, knowing food’s origins, and desiring a unique eating experience," stated chocolatier Katrina Markoff, founder of Wild Ophelia. "There is a revolution occurring in our food industry; more people crave a direct connection with their food. The consumer cares about sourcing, buying local, getting fresh ingredients, eating well, recycling, going to farmer’s markets, and shopping natural and organic. She looks forward to finding natural and organic products at her local drug store or grocer. The time is now to introduce a new chocolate experience to the mainstream."

Wild Ophelia chocolate is also sold at such retailers as Whole Foods, Wegmans and H-E-B.
